New airports in all parts of the world, increasing passenger figures due to non-stop globalisation and the leisure habits of modern man, and significantly tighter international security regulations: all this requires high-performance, strictly practically-oriented new airport-rescue-fire-fighting vehicle concepts. IVECO Magirus has, with the introduction of the DRAGON 2 series, given a clear signal: not at all a futuristic-looking design solution, but a class of robust, contemporary and functional commercial vehicles put its mark on this series until now. With the new DRAGON 2, we have now achieved an optimum symbiosis between the two extremes. Both the DRAGON 6x6 and the DRAGON 8x8 initially continue as workhorses: in accordance with our principle of „everything from one source“, the new DRAGON 2 will be powered by the latest generation of IVECO high-performance diesel engines.
These engines not only bring 40 tonnes to a top speed of over 135 km/h, under full load they also permit an impressive pump output with a monitor in use and when travelling. The cabin completely fulfils the requirements of maximum effect with minimum crew. It offers space for 3, 4 or 6 crew, and the driver‘s position can be sited left, right or centre, as preferred. With a maximum volume of 17.000 litres of extinguishing water plus 2.040 litres of foam and 500 kg of powder, the DRAGON 2 is counted amongst the firefighting giants in its class – and not only that, but the fire-fighting and vehicle engineering power station has never been so attractively packaged as it is today. With its performance figures and its modern finish, the new DRAGON 2 will not merely do an outstanding job on the world‘s airports, it‘ll cut a perfect figure too.
